M.A.M.A.  - MADS Annual Moda Affair:  By Deb Clements

MADS’ first (and hopefully annual) pre-Mothers’ Day M.A.M.A. event was the first time Teresa Bilbao and I have ever organized a fashion show.  We were very nervous and thought we had bitten off more than we could chew.  Luckily through perseverance, wine, assembling a great team of people to help both on the catwalk and behind the scenes, it was a success!  Did I mention wine?

Teresa and I have a lot of people to thank.  First of all, this event couldn’t have happened without the sponsorship of Carepak Moving and Storage.  Thank you Carepak for wanting to partner with us and honor the unsung heroes - Moms!  Fellow MADS Moms had the honour of wearing two designer collections: International designer Pia Gladys Perey and Vission Perey’s debut ‘Ode to Grace’ collection.  Pia’s and Vission’s designs were accentuated by beautiful accessories loaned by fellow MADS Moms Ale Walsh of AWD and Christy Lynch of Style by Christiana.  Hair and makeup for the models was graciously and gratuitously supplied by Leo and the team at Philippe’s Salon on Pasong Tamo.  The lovely wine was provided at a large discount from Sommelier Selections allowing us to have high quality wines at bottom of the barrel prices.  Thank you to the New World Hotel for working within our budget restrictions and negotiating on our behalf for discounts with lighting and sound suppliers.  Thank you also to Secret Talaga for showing that imported larger size lingerie CAN be found in the Philippines!  Thanks to Liz Lam for designing the ticket and poster.  I would like to express my appreciation to the fellow expat associations, MADS committee members and friends who helped to market the event. 

Now last but not least, thank you to the lovely ladies who strutted their stuff on the catwalk.  Not only did you look sensational but you were wonderful to work with. We shared many laughs and made memories that I will treasure.  It’s hard to decide who had more fun - the models or the audience!
